Union Pacific 'Challenger' Production Models

The paint scheme of the 'late' variation oil-fired locomotives was the same as the coal-fired locomotives. They were painted black overall with graphite colored heat resistant paint used on the smokebox and firebox areas. The graphics were silver-gray in color, a common modeling mistake is to use white graphics because that is what they appear to be in many photos that are used for reference due to the glare or reflection on the painted surface.
